The latest version of Property Hive, 2.1.4, has just been released and is available for download now. Although only a minor version update it still contains some tweaks that effect everyone so it’s worth having a read of the changes below:
Security updates
With thousands of estate agencies running Property Hive (Over 3,000 at the last count) on their site, it’s important to us that our plugin is as secure as possible.
This latest version sees nearly 300 files changed and over 1,500+ lines of code changed as we’ve gone through the plugin to ensure everything is as safe as it can be, including sanitizing input and escaping output.
By doing this we prevent any malicious input from users or visitors being saved, and if it is stored somehow, it isn’t then output to your or your customers browser to run nasty code.
Over the 10 years that Property Hive has operated we’ve had very few vulnerabilities reported and, when we have, they’ve been acted on straight away. We’re proud of our security record and will always continue to monitor this at regular intervals going forward.
Duplicate reference number warning
When adding a property manually to WordPress we’ll now show a warning if the reference number entered is already in use on another on market property:
New default tenures
When you install Property Hive for the first time we’ll now create two new additional tenures used frequently in the property industry; Share of Freehold and Commonhold.
These can be customised further under ‘Property Hive > Settings > Custom Fields > Tenures‘.

As well as the above this release also contains a lot of small changes as follows:
- Allow basic HTML in body of match emails
- Include ‘private’ properties and contacts in CRM searches, for example when adding a viewing and searching for applicants
- Added ability to pass ‘match_property_type‘ attribute to [similar_properties] shortcode. This will return properties with the same property type as the property in question
- Added ability to pass ‘property_type_id‘ attribute to [similar_properties] shortcode. This will return properties of a specific property type
- Ensure auto match respects timezones when checking the date it was enabled
- Added filter ‘propertyhive_use_propertyhive_templates‘ to turn off the use of Property Hive templates. Not recommended but handy if using Property Hive alongside a plugin that also registers the ‘property’ custom post type
- Apply ‘propertyhive_taxonomy_hide_empty_args’ filter to child terms too
- Ensure SQL is properly sanitized when performing query on address polygon coordinates table
- Corrected issue with links in errors/messages being escaped when saving settings
- Corrected Elementor tabbed details widget onclick event from not working on mobile
- Corrected typo and the setting of contact type when instructing appraisal
- Corrected PHP 8.1 warnings due to trying to assign submenu pages to null
- Corrected PHP 8.3 deprecation warnings when declaring PH_Enquiry class
- Declared compatibility for WordPress 6.8.1
This latest version of Property Hive is available for download with immediate effect so be sure to update to benefit from the all of the above.
