Built to be useful. Property Hive started with a real problem and a simple idea: build the tools people actually need. More than a decade later, that’s still what drives us.
We’re passionate about giving people solid foundations and the freedom to build without limits.
It started with a problem
Before Property Hive, Steve spent more than a decade working in property software and building hundreds of estate agency websites. Every client wanted something different, but behind the scenes, the same challenges kept cropping up.
Far too much of what every property website needed was being built from scratch, over and over again.
So in 2015, Steve started building Property Hive: a solid set of property tools for WordPress that could take care of the essentials, while leaving developers free to build whatever their clients needed on top.
It started as a solution to a problem he knew well. Then other developers and estate agents started using it too. And things grew from there.
More than a decade and thousands of websites later, we’re still building. Just with a few more people to build for.
How we do things
Property Hive reflects a lot of what matters to us, not just in what we build, but in how we choose to do business. We want to make things that are genuinely useful, share what we know and keep Property Hive open and flexible so people have plenty of choice in how they use it.
We also believe good technology should be accessible. That means fair, transparent pricing, plenty of useful stuff for free and the freedom to choose what you actually need. No smoke and mirrors. No making things more complicated than they need to be. Just good technology, thoughtfully built, well supported and made to last.
The people behind Property Hive
Property Hive is a family run business based near Leamington Spa in Warwickshire. Steve and Laura run the business alongside a small team of people we’ve worked with for years.
Steve - Founder & Developer
Steve founded Property Hive in 2015 after more than a decade working in property software, including as a Senior Software Developer at Jupix, and building hundreds of estate agency websites along the way.
He’s still the brains behind the code, spending his days building new features, solving tricky technical problems and working out how to make Property Hive better.
Away from work, he’s into Formula 1, metal, NASA, travel and pretty much anything that gets him outdoors. He also has a habit of picking up slightly obscure hobbies and getting annoyingly good at them.
Current obsession: Cup stacking. Yes, it’s a real sport!
Laura - Operations & Growth
Laura joined Property Hive in 2022 after a career spanning HR, recruitment and sales, bringing plenty of new ideas about where it could go next.
These days, she looks after operations, marketing, partnerships and growth, helping shape the direction of Property Hive and making sure the customer perspective is always part of the conversation.
Outside work, she sings in a choir, loves art, nature and travel, has a few ultramarathons under her belt and gets almost as much joy from planning a trip as taking one.
